The police force in Somanya has arrested fourteen(14) persons which consist of 10 young girls and 4 adults for flouting the ban on the social gathering directive as they perform dipo rites for young girls.

When questioned by the authority, the person performing the rites for the young girls said that the rite is a custom that needs to be done when the time is due.

The person also said that they know the measure the government has adopted and due to that they ensured that all the young girls wear nose masks and also practice social distancing when the rites are being performed for them.

According to the Assemblyman of the community, he was surprised to see the people flouting the directives of the President in the name of performing Dipo rites amid the Pandemic.

The police granted bail to all the 10 young girls who were arrested but the other four adults are being processed for the court to explain themselves.
