Ghanaian highlife singer Akwaboah has stated that he is not defined by awards.

Akwaboah missed out in the categories he was nominated at the just held Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

According to him receiving awards is not the validation of his hard work.

He made this statement in an interview on Happy Fm.

When quizzed why he wins awards internationally for best highlife artiste but local awards schemes seem to snub him, Akwaboah replied by saying that he does not have the right answers to that.

Akwaboah further stated that his main aim is to keep pushing to serve his fans with good music and is not perturbed by the VGMA snub.

“When I organize shows, you know the number of people who come so I can’t be defined by the fact that an award show has been organized and I didn’t win any award. The organizers sat down and decided how they want their event to go so I’m not bothered. If it comes,that’s fine. If it doesn’t.I am still Akwaboah” He noted.
