American rapper and songwriter Jidenna Theodore Mobisson, better known mononymously as Jidenna has commended the president of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo for giving African-Americans the opportunity to revisit their ancestral land 400 years after the slave epoch.

President Akufo-Addo birthed the ‘Year of Return, Ghana 2019”, a major landmark marketing campaign targeting the African – American and Diaspora Market to mark 400 years of the first enslaved African arriving in Jamestown Virginia.

The ‘Classic Man’ spitter said the ‘Year of Return’ will give them equal opportunity to know their family roots and grant them the opportunity to reconnect with their past.

“The president of Ghana just announced recently that if you’re an African-American or Caribbean-American or from the Diaspora and you go back to Ghana and trace your roots even if you just live there, you’re going to be granted voting rights.” he said

Jidenna added “That’s a big headline. It changes how you look at things. Say, we got another Trump and we already seen the game you can be like for the next four years, I’m out [to Ghana].”

So far the ‘Year of Return’ has been successful as renowned American celebrities who trace their roots from African have visited the Western African country.

A-list celebrities including Steve Harvey, Samuel L Jackson, Deborah Cox, Danny Glover and many others.
