The coach of the Ghana Black Stars Kwesi Appiah will name Turkey-based midfielder Andre Ayew as new Captain of the team ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations(AFCON).
According to a report by ghanasoccernet.com, the announcement will be made latest by Wednesday when the provisional squad for AFCON is named.
The decision to make Ayew as the substantive captain comes after the coach strip Asamoah Gyan of the leadership role ahead of the tournament in Egypt.
A new deputy captain will be named as Ayew is promoted to lead the Black Stars to victory in the upcoming AFCON.
This will be the first time the Fernabache player is captaining the senior national team.
Ayew boasts of good leadership skills as he spearheaded the Ghana youth team -Black Satellites to win the World Youth Championship title in 2009.
