Asamoah Gyan Is Still Unhappy About Ayew Being Captain-Joshua Clottey

Ghanaian boxer, Joshua Clottey has disclosed that Asamoah Gyan is still unhappy that his captaincy has been given to Andre Ayew.

Recall that Asamoah in May announced his decision to permanently retire from the National team mainly because of a decision to take the captaincy from him.

However, his decision was short-lived as he took a U-turn to rescind his decision from permanently retiring from the Senior National team after a request was made by the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo to return to the team.

The Coach of the Black Stars later made him the General Captain with Andrew Ayew as the Captain of the team.

Joshua Clottey reacting to the change in captaincy in the Black Stars team disclosed that Asamoah Gyan is still unhappy that he was stripped off the captaincy and that will cause a problem in the team.

He made this revelation in an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa.

According to the former World Champion, Kwesi Appiah’s decision to take the captaincy from Asamoah Gyan to Ayew will hinder their chances of winning the 2019 African Cup Of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

” Asamoah accepted the coach’s decision to strip him off the captaincy because he is mature. He is hurt deep within him. It is not easy for Baby Jet that he handed over the Captain to Ayew. Asamoah will not be happy that he is going into AFCON without the captaincy.” he said

Joshua Clottey opined that the coach of the senior National team should have handled the captaincy issue in a way that wouldn’t have affected any player.
