Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has finally apologized to Otumfuo Osei Tutu for using unprinted words against him in viral leaked audio.
Recall that aside from being tagged as a stingy pastor, the founder of Lighthouse International church had his name rolling in the news a few days ago after an audio of him insulting Otumfour Osei Tutu got leaked on the Ghanaian internet.
In the said audio, the highly respected clergyman could be heard speaking to his junior pastors about Otumfuo, narrating to them how the famous Ashanti King is living a wayward life yet being regarded as a legend.
Well, after the video sparked several controversies and received a lot of reactions, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills has sincerely apologized.
In a statement dated June 19, 2021, he explained that the message was preached nearly 20 years ago but had been taken out of context maliciously.
He noted in the statement that the message was leaked by some individuals who have already vowed to shut down his church in Kumasi.
He however thanked the King for handling the matter “graciously”.
Below are excerpts of the statement.
“I am deeply saddened that a message I shared at a conference nearly 20 years ago, has been taken out of its context and circulated by persons who have previously declared that they will maliciously cause our churches in Kumasi to be closed down”.
“I wish to apologize to His Majesty Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II for any disrespect, insult or harm caused him or his royal court. Please accept my profound apologies for the statements I made.”
