After playing in just five Premier League games, Manchester United star, Bruno Fernandes has made the BBC Team of the Season.

Fernandes has scored three goals and registered three assists for United from eight games ever since his January move from Sporting Lisbon, but rival fans feel that is not enough to have merited a spot on the BBC team of the season, having played few games.

For the Team of the Season, Alisson Becker got the nod in goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk both made the cut in defence, along with Leicester’s Caglar Soyuncu and Andy Robertson.

Fernandes was joined in midfield by Manchester City and Liverpool players Kevin De Bruyne and Jordan Henderson.

And, up top, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane were placed either side of Sergio Aguero.

How fans reacted:

One said: “Bruno Fernandes scored one goal from open play had few assists and helped Man Utd move from 5th to 5th. The bias is unreal. Who allowed this lmao.”

A second said: “Bigger question how did Fernandes make it into the fans team of the season.”

A third said: “Guys let’s be honest, I know Bruno Fernandes has been good in the past 2 months… But was it necessary to include him in the team of the season?”

A fourth chipped in with: “BBC’s Team of the Season looks all good until you see f****** Bruno Fernandes who’s played 5 Premier League games…”

“Not disputing the fact that bruno fernandes is a good player but making tots with only 5 matches is a big NO!!” said another.

“Bruno Fernandes is on the team of the season? That must be a mad joke,” said a sixth fan.

“Bruno Fernandes being in this team while Kovacic, Ndidi, Maddison and Grealish are overlooked just shows how much b******* this is,” were the words of a seventh.

Another opined: “Bruno Fernandes has been superb, but there’s no way you can make a TOTS having only played five matches.”

Bruno Fernandes’ transfer to Manchester United is being investigated by FIFA after his former club Sampdoria lodged a complaint claiming they are owed money from a sell-on clause.

Fernandes moved to Old Trafford in January for a fee of around £47 million ($58m) but Sampdoria, who sold the midfielder to Sporting C.P. three years ago, are arguing they should have been paid around £4m of the transfer fee due to a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

The 25-year-old spent one season at Sampdoria before signing for Sporting in 2017 for £7.5m and they believe they are owed 10% of any profit made by the Portuguese club relating to Fernandes.
