There have been calls by Ghanaians particularly members of the main opposition the National Democratic Congress(NDC) for schools to close down after some Senior High Schools confirmed cases of coronavirus.
Amid the aforesaid, the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye has ruled out the closing of senior high schools due to coronavirus infections.
According to Dr Patrick Kuma Aboagye, the government has no plans to close down schools despite calls by some Ghanaians to close the schools down and allow the students to return home.
“We ought to learn to live with the virus…we should find means of living our normal lives despite the virus being around and that is what we are doing…,” he told host Captain Smart in an interview on Angel FM monitored by browngh.com.
He further commented that the country is recording high recoveries because of the treatment which they give to patients.
Reports indicate that more than 10 Senior High Schools have so far recorded confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Accra Girls Senior High School currently tops Senior High Schools with confirmed coronavirus cases as they have 55 cases.
Some of SHSs like Archbishop Porter Girls, Mawuli SHS, Suhum Senior High and Technical School among others have recorded coronavirus cases of COVID-19.
