Samia Suluhu Hassan, the president of Tanzania has fired an appointee she appointed in less than 24 hours and she has not given any reason for her action.
The president appointed Thobias Mwesiga as the director of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Authority(TPDC) but was fired few hours after settling into his seat.
After succeeding president John Pombe Magufuli after his untimely death, Her excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan has taken the commonsensical approach in managing the governmental affairs of the country.
Thobias Mwesiga, the Director-General of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Authority(TPDC) appointed was sacked on Monday, April 5, and replaced by James Mataragio who was the former Director-General of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Authority(TPDC).
In the letter, the Tanzanian president did not disclose she was sacking Thobias Mwesiga and James Mataragio to resume duties immediately.
But according to reports, Thobias Mwesiga was sacked because he had been involved in some corrupt practices and President Samia Suluhu Hassan go to know after appointing him.
“President Samia Suluhu Hassan has revoked the appointment of the director-general of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Thobias Mwesiga, who was appointed on April 4, 2021.
Following the decision, President Samia has reinstated James Mataragio to be the TPDC director-general. Mataragio was the DG of TPDC before Mwesiga’s appointment,” a statement by Tanzanian State House stated.
