Award-winning Ghanaian disc jockey DJ Mic Smith has finally broken his silence on the recently held 2019 Ghana DJs Awards.

11-year-old DJ Switch was adjudged the overall best DJ of the Year award at the event which took place at the Accra International Conference Centre.

A section of Ghanaians have lashed at the organizers of the event, Merqury Republic, claiming the young DJ does not deserve the highly coveted award.

Commenting on the issue YFM Thursday, Mic Smith stated that the Ghana DJs Awards has no credibility.

Based on his observation he said the scheme is known for awarding people who do not deserve to win since its inception.

He said “The history of the Ghana DJ Awards has been like this from day one. The people who don’t deserve win the award and those who have worked hard, stand out and deserve it do not win the award.”

“I don’t [like] anything about the awards, I don’t know the criteria. You are just there and they will say you have won the award. I don’t really know what went into it before she got the award,”

According to DJ Mic Smith, he was not surprised that the Talented Kidz star won. Nonetheless he congratulated her.

When asked about his view on his fellow DJs in the country berating DJ Switch for winning the ultimate award, he quizzed, “Why didn’t they comment when she was nominated? If you are saying the person is not supposed to win that award then she wasn’t supposed to be in that category in the first place. “

DJ Switch, christened Erica Armah Bra-Bulu Tandoh, beat DJ Mic-Smith, DJ Vyrusky, DJ Sly, DJ Aroma and DJ Black to win the Best DJ of the Year award.

DJ Switch, who has exchanged pleasantries with American business magnate-Bill Gate, France President, Emmanuel Macron and other prominent personalities rose to fame after she won TV3’s Talented Kids in 2017.
