Every government has invested in football most especially the senior National team, Black Stars but has not yielded as the national team has been on a trophy drought since 1982.

A lot of money have been invested in appointing foreign coaches coupled with the funds invested in supporting the team in competitions.

It seems to be a wasted investment as the Black Stars for close to 32 years have not boasted of any trophy to equate the monies impounded in football.

However, renowned boxer and comedian Braimah Isaac Kamoko aka Bukom Banku has called on the government to stop wasting money in promoting football and start focusing on boxing which has been beneficial to the country.

According to him, boxing has won honours for the nation and needs attention.

Bukom Banku lamented that football has not brought anything meaningful to the country, not even a recognised trophy to boast of.

He indicated that boxing which is not promoted by the government has brought 10 recognised trophies but yet ‘they’ keep wasting huge amount of cash into football with no yield.

“Without any form of disrespect to football, boxing has brought more honours to Ghana, than football. We have over the years won ten world titles, whilst football is yet to give us any significant trophy.”

Bukom Banku also added that Boxing can help attract tourists as well as create employment opportunities for the youth.

“Boxing can also attract tourists to the country and create employment opportunities for youth, especially those on the streets,” he added.
