Four people have been arrested by the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly(LaNMMA) Sanitation Taskforce for reportedly dumping rubbish at the Madina-Aburi Highway on Tuesday dawn.

The culprits identified as Joyce Stephen who is 38-years-old, Elizabeth Tetteh,55, Isaac Azawornu, 22,and one Emmanuel Kpesese also 34-yers-old were arrested on Tuesday between the Ritz Junction and Madina Redco area.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer of the La Nkwantanang Madina Municipal Assembly(LaNMMA), Mr. Joseph Quacoe told the Ghana News Agency that the convicts were spotted dumping rubbish at unauthorized areas during a Taskforce exercise and they would be arraigned for sanitation court.

Mr. Joseph Quacoe also added that the LaNMMA has collaborated with Zoomlion under the sanitation improvement package that the shoulders and the corridors of the roads are swept and the refuse is collected every morning under the supervision of the Sanitation Unit of the Assembly.

He also said the people will collect refuse from traders and dump them at unauthorized areas and this has contributed to many health hazards in the area.

Mr. Quacoe said that several public announcements have been made but the practice is still going on so, therefore, theses culprits will face the wrath of the law to serve as an example for others.
