The Black Stars of Ghana have sealed qualification to the African Cup of Nations after securing a vital away point against South Africa.

CK Akonnor’s men were under huge pressure in the first half but the poor finishing from the hosts saw them spared. In the second half, Ghana drew first blood.

Mohammed Kudus beat his marker after being teed off by Benson Anang and drove the ball into the net from close range in the 49th minute.

Three minutes later, Percy Tau finished off a quick counter-attack to bring the match level.


Bafana Bafana pushed for another goal but the visitors held on for the draw.

With 10 points earned, Ghana goes through to the main tournament on a head-to-head basis.
