His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has prolonged the covid-19 incentive package for health workers until the end of December 2020.
He made this disclosure while addressing the nation on November 8th 2020 on issues relating to covid-19 and how to battle it out forever.
This was an incentive that was introduced by President Akufo-Addo in April 2020 where health workers are not to pay income tax on their salaries to cushion them to give out their all against the collective fight of Ghana against the pandemic.
Announcing the extension of the package, the president said;
“I am happy to announce that the incentive package for health workers has been extended to the end of the year. Again, all frontline health workers as defined by the Ministry of Health will continue to receive their additional allowance of 50 per cent of their basic salary for October, November and December.”
Meanwhile, Ghana is beginning to see an increase in the number of Coronavirus cases in recent days as the active case count is currently at 1,156. Out of this number, 198 are new cases recorded today.
