Ghanaian singer Kurl Songx has disclosed that he wished his social media handles were not seized after he parted ways with Kaywa.
Kurl Songx happens to be one of the artistes who have their social media handles seized after they leave their record labels.
Recent incidents were that of eShun and Joyce Blessing who lost their social media handles to their former management after they parted ways.
This ‘mafia’ style is mostly used by record labels in a way to punish artistes when they part ways with them.
Speaking in an interview with Amansan Krakye of Cape Coast’s GBC Radio Central, Kurl Songx spoke about how his former label seized his social media handle from him when he parted ways with them.
According to him, although he was not hurt, he wished that his social media handles were not taken away by his former management, Highly Spiritual Music.
“Regarding the social media handles, I think that there should be an understanding or agreement between the artiste and the record label. In case they part ways in future whether the handles must be given to the artiste or record label should be decided.”
“Basically I think that most of the social media handles are based on the artiste’s name so I think the artiste deserves to have it but if the management decides otherwise because of their investment, then there needs to be an understanding.”
“Personally I wasn’t hurt but I wish my social media handles were not seized from me after quitting Highly Spiritual Music.” Kurl Songx told Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central.
