Lockdown: Ghana Is Not The Only Country With Poor Citizens-Omanhene Insists

Ace Journalist and host of Adom TV’s Badwam, Omanhene Kwabena Asante has also called on President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo to initiate a Nationwide lockdown in the country in order to save the rest of the citizens from contracting the deadly virus.

Omanhene said that the government should stop pampering us with the excuse that there are a lot of poor people on the streets and added that Ghana is not the only poor country in the World.

The President in a state of the Nation address announced a two-week lockdown in the Greater Accra and the Ashanti region of Ghana in order to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to Omanhene, Ghanaians are still flouting the lockdown order with excuses that they do not have a place to abode and cannot eat if they do not step out to conduct their businesses and also urged the President to enforce the law.

He added that initiating a total lockdown of the country will prevent the country from recording more cases as the frontline workers cannot handle the pressure.

“When we talk people don’t listen in Ghana. People argue that we have some people who do not have places to lay their heads. In India people are homeless, in Ethiopia, America people are homeless but who told you that the problems of this world can be solved by our Presidents and by ourselves. No nation, No nation, what you look out for is that a reasonable number of people will live enhanced lives but vulnerability is across the world. If you say because of these vulnerable people you’re unable to lockdown and ensure that the laws of the country will work by the time you realize things will go out of hand. Even New York, UK, and Italy where there are good hospitals they have been overwhelmed by the numbers. If you’re betting hopes on Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital, Ridge hospital and 37 Military hospitals then Ghana is doomed if the numbers rise to 5000.” he said.
