Manchester United have named Michael Carrick as caretaker manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was fired.
Carrick will lead the team against Villarreal, and possibly Chelsea next weekend.
United are due to fly to Spain on Monday for Tuesday’s match, limiting the timeframe to bring in a quick replacement.
Solskjaer was fired after a 4-1 defeat to Watford.
Carrick was appointed as coach under Jose Mourinho and was kept on by Solskjaer.
