We Are Set To Develop Vaccines In Ghana- President Akufo-Addo

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has commented on the verdict of the 2020 election petition.

The Supreme Court, presided over by the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah, today, Thursday 4th March 2021 ruled that the Electoral Commission (EC’s) declaration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the winner of the December 7, 2020, presidential election is in order.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) declared the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the winner of the 2020 Presidential elections on 9th December 2020.

The declaration was contested in court by the NDC, who argued that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, did not win the election 2020 as declared by the EC.

During the final verdict of the election petition, the supreme court by a unanimous decision dismissed the election petition brought before it by the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections, John Dramani Mahama.

Presenting the verdict, Chief Justice Kwesi Anin-Yeboah, who led the seven-member panel, said the petitioner has not produced any evidence to rebut the presumptions created by the publication of CI 135.

The petitioner has not produced any evidence to rebut the presumptions created by the publication of CI 135. We are therefore of no reason to order a rerun. We accordingly dismiss the petition,” the Chief Justice said in the judgment.

Reacting to the verdict which was passed on 4th March 2021, Akufo-Addo said the ruling by the Supreme Court affirms his victory in the presidential election of 7th December 2020.

On Thursday, 4th March 2021, the Supreme Court, in a unanimous ruling, affirmed my victory in the presidential election of 7th December 2020”, Akufo-Addo said in a Facebook post.
