Veteran female songstress Mzbel in an interview with Abeiku Santana on UTV’s Atuu Show confessed to bleaching her skin which led to regrets.
According to the ‘I be 16 years’ crooner indicated that she is envious of dark or black ladies because being ‘white’ doesn’t depict her true identity.
Mzbel indicated that her regrets led her to roam churches aimed at quitting bleaching.
“I have come to understand life and I am trying to connect to who I am, as a black person I don’t think I have to be apologizing for being black.
“I don’t care if people start saying I am black now, being white is not who I am and anytime I see someone with dark complexion I jealous the person. I move from Church to Church because I’m on a spiritual journey to quit bleaching”, she said.
It could be recalled that Mzbel in 2017 that she spends over GHC 1000 in three weeks for the bleaching cream that kept her skin in shape.
“Bleaching in James town at the time was common. It wasn’t a big deal at all,” she said adding “There are some bleaching products that cost GHC1000 which lasts for just three weeks.”
“Attempts to stop bleaching has been very difficult as the side effects are so clear when I make the attempt…I am able to afford the cream because I have a job that pays well.
“I regret ever bleaching. I wish I never did bleach. I wish I had someone advising me,” Mzbel said.
