Head of Programmes at Accra-based Hitz FM, Mark Okraku Mantey has jumped to the defence of the current Vodafone Ghana Music Awards ‘New Artiste of the Year’, Wendy Shay on her achievement.
Barely 48 hours now the Afrobeat singer has been at the receiving end of some heavy trolling on social media after she revealed her achievement.
The ‘Uber Driver’ crooner mentioned in an interview that she can now purchase the the latest electronic gadgets in town: mentioning iPhone, iPad and a camera on her own.
She said these were items she could not have afforded to buy when she hasn’t started music professionally about a year ago.
These triggered harsh criticisms and attack from section of the public who thought her achievement were nothing to write home about.
Commenting on the issue on the Daybreak Hitz show on Hitz FM Wednesday, the CEO of Slip Music eulogized Wendy Shay for her iPhone achievement.
Okraku Mantey noted that the Rufftown Records artiste has worked hard after she ventured into the Ghanaian music scene.
According to the President of the Creative Arts Council of Ghana, Wendy Shay whose real name is Wendy Addo, is a modest girl who is of herself.
“Wendy Shay is not a slay queen, she works hard to achieve whatever she wants to achieve,” Mark indicated
