Motivational speaker and President of IYES Ghana Dr Brian Amoateng has rendered an unqualified apology to the general public over his recent insensitive comment he made regarding churches sharing hand sanitizers to its members.
Recall that Dr Brian Amoateng in a facebook live with his fans stated that it is not the responsibility of the church to buy sanitizers for its members because they pay offertory.
He opined that offering is made to receive a blessing from God and not the church.
“.. we don’t even have money, we are struggling to pay our rent, where are we going to get money to buy hand sanitisers?
It is not the responsibility of the church to buy sanitisers for you because you give offering. It’s not! You give offering to God to receive a blessing from God and not the church.” Pastor Brian Amoateng said when he was quizzed by a netizen to provide hand sanitisers to the public using some benefits from the church.
The comment made by the popular motivational speaker and clergyman incurred the wrath of social media users as well as some Ghanaian celebrities.
However, Dr Brian Amoateng after several criticisms over his ‘insensitive’ comment has rendered an unqualified apology to the public.
According to him, his comments attracted negative commentaries because it was misconstrued.
He indicated that he is not against churches giving out hand sanitizers to its members and the community at large.
“My explanation was on the basis that the church cannot be seen to be the only or sole institution to do that and that members also had a role to ply as well as the government. It was in this light that I made my comment. I however apologize if this point did not come clear in my interactions on the live feed on faceook” Dr Amoateng stated.
