Human remains have been found in the search for YouTube vlogger Gabby Petito’s off-the-grid fiancé Brian Laundrie.

Authorities dug deep into the wilderness where the search for Laundrie has focused in recent days, MSNBC reported.

On Wednesday morning the Sarasota County Medical Examiner’s Office was called out to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park.

The search for Laundrie was underway at the time, a spokesperson for the office told Reuters earlier.

According to 10 Tampa Bay News, Laundrie family attorney Steven Bertolino was asked if Laundrie’s remains had been found.

He replied “No comment”.

The FBI also released an official statement via Twitter.

They wrote: “Items of interest were located at the Carlton Reserve this morning in connection with the search for Brian Laundrie.

“The reserve is closed to the public and no further details are available at this time.”

A statement by family attorney Mr Bertolino explained how the possessions and potential remains were happened upon.

He told journalists: “[Laundrie parents] Chris and Roberta Laundrie went to the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning to search for Brian.

The local medical examiner and a dog unit trained to find human remains were called to the scene, the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office said.

Earlier this week Gabby Petito’s heartbroken mum Nicole Schmidt vowed to catch the “coward” fiance who has been widely suspected of some involvement in her disappearance and death in early September.

Gabby’s body was found by police in Grant Teton National Park, Wyoming, weeks after Laundrie had returned home to Florida without her.

And an ex-US marshal said Laundrie can “run but he can’t hide”.

He will now be sleeping with “one eye open”, said Lenny DePaul.

Earlier this month a coroner revealed Gabby Petito was strangled to death.

The Wyoming official said it was brute “human force” which caused her tragic death.
