Since the kasoa ritual killing, most netizens and sympathisers of the late Ishmael Mensah who was murdered has suggested that the suspects, Nicholas and Felix should be given a harsh and tougher punishment for what they did.
Some people are calling on the court to send them to life imprisonment whiles others suggest that their life should also be taken away from them by law.
But the central police command has come out to say that the two suspects may not get any harsh punishment as supposed by sympathisers because they are juvenile (below 18).
DSP Irene Oppong, PRO for the Central Regional Police command made this clear to the general public in an interview she had with Kumasi based Hello FM.
She started that;
“In the case of a juvenile, the sentence can’t exceed five years. In some instances, they can be sentenced for only three years and that depends on the discretion of the judge”
“As we speak, there is no documentary evidence to prove whether their ages are 16 or 17. Therefore we are looking forward to getting their weighing cards or birth certificates. In case we do not get any of these, then the police investigator will have to them to an expert to determine their ages“, she ended.
Meanwhile, the father of the late Ishmael Mensah has promised to take the law into his hands if the court fails to sentence the two suspects to life imprisonment.
