Ghanaian Afrobeats and Hiplife artiste, Fancy Gadam born Mujahid Ahmed Bello has disclosed that to be able to make it as a non-Accra based artiste you need to have a hit song in Accra.
Speaking in an interview on Accra based TV XYZ, the Tamale-based artiste disclosed that after he won the new artiste of the year at the VGMA in 2017 people claimed they didn’t know him because he was only popular in the Northern part of Ghana.
Fancy Gadam further indicated that he decided to collaborate with Sarkodie on his ‘Total Cheat’ song to prove a point and the song became a hit in Accra and nationwide.
He reiterated that if an artist gets a hit song in Accra, the song automatically hits in other parts of the country.
“If you have a hit song in Accra automatically it going to be everywhere. That’s the reality because there are some songs in the Northern region which is very big but it’s not known in Accra. The only thing I can say is if the media can give their listening ears to the Northside or Kumasi because there are some songs that hit in Kumasi but are not popular in Accra” Fancy Gadam disclosed.
