Information available to browngh.com has it that two unidentified illegal miners have died after they were trapped in a mining pit at Manso Datano in the Manso Edubiase District of the Ashanti Region.

The two who were both believed to be in their 30’s were pronounced dead on arrival at the Tontokrom Health Care after they were being rescued on Monday, 11 May 2020 at 11:00 am.

The bodies of the deceased have ever since been deposited at the St Martin’s Catholic Hospital’s Morgue at Manso Agroyesum for preservation, identification, and post mortem.

Christian O. Amartey who is the Chief Inspector of the Datano police command revealed that the third person who was also rescued was very weak and has been admitted at the hospital for treatment.

According to the station officer, the deceased was brought in a taxi with registration number GT 8906- 18 by one Mr. Yaw Akowuah and Kwadwo Asanfo who were both committee members of the Manso Tontokrom.

Chief Inspector Christian Amartey stated that they received a distress call that three miners have been trapped in a mining pit while working in it.

Residents were able to rescue them with two of them unconscious with the third person looking very weak.

The two were pronounced dead as they arrived at the hospital by the health officials and the other is receiving treatment.
