The mortal remains of late highlife musician Emmanuel Kwame Anokye known in showbiz circles as Anokye Supremohas finally arrived in Ghana from India despite earlier financial issues and threats of having his body seized.
The corpse of the Daddy Lumba look-alike arrived in Ghana from the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences in India where he had died.
In a video making rounds on social media captures a coffin arriving at the docks which contains the body of Supremo.
Anokye Supremo formerly known as Daddy Lumba Junior kicked the bucket in India after a battle with brain disease.
He died on Wednesday, January 30, at the Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences in India after undergoing surgery to remove a tumour in his brain.
After his death, his manager Mr. Isaac Kwabena Zachariah appleaded to Ghanaians to contribute financially to help the family of the musician retrieve his mortal remains from the hospital in India.
He noted that the hospital bills that have to be paid amount to 21,000 dollars and “this amount excludes the costs involved in flying the mortal remains to Ghana. It is left with $21,000 after some people donated some amounts to foot the bill while Anokye Supremo was receiving treatment. The total amount of money we spent plus the 21,000 will amount to 30,000” and the hospital is “demanding the payment before the body will released”.
Later, he disclosed that Ghanaians should expect Anokye’s body in Accra on Monday afternoon, February 11, 2019.
