Reports have emerged that Liverpool’s most valued defender, Virgil Van Djik  has raptured his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and could stay off the pitch for a lengthy period of time.

The 2019 FIFA Men’s Player winner sustained the injury after clashing with Everton’s goalkeeper, Jordan Pickford  during the Merseyside Derby on October 17,2020.

The wild scissor tackle from Pickford went unpunished after Van Dijk was deemed to be offside but VAR also decided that it was not worthy of a red card despite its reckless nature.

As it stands, it is said that Van Djik may be out for close to seven or eight months.
